A large French pilaster mortar

Cast bronze with dark brown patina. Thick-walled conical form with concave convex base and stepped rim. The body surrounded by four tapering shallow pilasters, facetted angular handles with twisted surface structure. H 20, D 24 cm. Weight 18.2 kg. Including a corresponding iron pestle.
Late 15th / early 16th C.
