An important French pilaster mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with natural patina. Squat conical form with stepped rim inscribed in Latin majuscule "SO DE FRANCISCO SALO APOTECARI" and dated "1 27", the letters and numbers on plaques. Eight fluted ribs with zoomorphic capitals surround the body. Lion's head handles. With a diagonal crack due to usage. H 20, D 28.7 cm. Weight 31.1 kg. Including a corresponding pestle.
