A rare wedding mortar with dragon's head handles

Greyish cast bronze with fine golden brown patina. Protruding base, the vessel surface divided by three horizontal mouldings. Cast with two bands of arabesques, animal motifs and mascarons. Inscribed in majuscule around the broad rim "HILGER WVNDER RICHTER IN LYMERS MARGRETA WILCHIA EHEL: 1655". H 17.5, D 22.8 cm. Weight 11.15 kg. Including a later pestle (with traces of green corrosion).
