A large Satsuma-Vase. Kyoto. Second half 19th century

Of elongated ovoid form with a trumpet-shaped neck and leafy handles, painted in enamels and thickly applied white and gold with two large reserves filled with a Japanese archer and two samurai in a landscape with a shining sun and with a feather cape and lengths of fabric underneath wisteria. Signed Kinkôzan zô in thick green enamel on a black ground.
