An Angkor Wat sandstone figure of Avalokitesvara. Cambodia. 12th century

Standing on a square base with a tang, in the proper left hand a small vessel in the other hands prayer beads and books, in front of the chignon a seated figure of Amitabha, wearing a close fitting sampot with centre fold in shape on an anchor held together with an ornamental belt. Feet and all arms restuck.
Height without tang 74.8 cm
