A mid-16th century Limoges enamel depiction of Saint Jerome

In a gilt bronze frame. Inscribed "SANCTE IERONIMEE" on the left side. Depicting the penitent Saint Jerome with a skull and a lion in a rocky landscape. In the Christie's London catalogue (8.7.1981, lot 301) this finely rendered depiction is attributed to Pierre Courteys. Pendant piece to the following lot.
A minor loss to the upper left, a hairline crack and a small breakage to the upper left. Minor wear to the frame. 10 x 7.5 cm (with frame).
