A carved ivory relief of the Baptism of Christ, probably South German, second quarter 18th century

Finely carved pierced relief depiction of Christ being baptised in the River Jordan by John the Baptist, the detailed landscape background enlivened by trees and shrubs. The dove of the Holy Spirit is shown in an aureola in the upper edge of the scene. In a ribbon wrapped oak leaf surround. Pendant to the following lot.
In perfect condition, only the reverse slightly yellowed. 19 x 11 cm.
