A lacquer incense box (kôgo). 16th/17th century

With indented corners, the flat lid displaying a heron standing in water beneath shidare sakura in gold and silver maki-e, black and red laquer, mother-of-pearl inlay on nashiji, a heron in water and chrysanthemums to the inside of the lid. The rims lined with silver-coloured metal. Minor damages due to age.
