A Mandalay lacquered wood figure of Buddha Shakyamuni. Burma. 20th century

Seated in meditation on a base, the right hand in bhumisparsa mudra placed on the knee, the left hand in dhyana mudra above the feet, the handband and the borders of the garment set with colourless and turquoise mirror glass stones, the base decorated additionally with scrolls in thayo-technique. Minor chips to the lacquer.
