A bronze pouring vessel for wine (jiadou). Bronze. Early Western Han dynasty, 2nd century BC.

Globular shape with a thin horizontal ridge around the body, on three thin curved feet with a spout ending in a chicken head with hinged lid, the lid of the ewer attached to the body with a hinge. Greenish grey mottled patina. The handle is missing, the area where it was attached to the body restored.
