A snuff box commemorating the victory in the Seven Years' War

Polychrome enamel on copper and silver plated tin, Prussian blue ground, moulded copper mountings. Rectangular box with slightly domed lid decorated with a portrait of the King within the star of the Order of the Black Eagle surrounded by twelve wreath motifs inscribed with battles from the Seven Years' War. The outer faces with trophies, the inside of the lid painted with a soldier amid trophies beneath an eagle bearing a wreath inscribed with the words "Victoria der Sieg ist da". Minor wear. H 4.2, W 8.2, D 6.4 cm.
Berlin, sale/production (?) attributed to Alexander Fromery, after 1763.

The sale of these snuff boxes can presumably be attributed to the merchant Alexander Fromery who inherited his father Pierre's firm in 1738.
