A Hachmann mortar made for Philip Pheuenruten

Yellowish gold cast bronze with natural patina. The display side decorated with two demi-figures supporting a vacant shield, the reverse with a depiction of the veil of Veronica in a round medallion flanked by two putti. Two broad bands around the rim and the domed base inscribed in Gothic minuscule: "philiyps pheuenruten syn hiusfrouw" and "int jaer ons heren m vc lxxIII". Slight greenish corrosion to the interior. H 14.5, D 14.7 cm. Weight c. 4.7 kg.
