A rare Gothic one-handled mortar

Cast bronze with chocolate brown patina. Of tapering form with slightly protruding base, four pointed ribs terminating in paw feet, flaring moulded rim curving inwards. Angular faceted handle of octagonal section. Cracks due to usage to the underside and beneath the handle. H 21.5, D 20.5 cm. Weight c. 7 kg.
