A Grassmayr mortar dated 1672

Golden yellow cast bronze with natural patina. The display side decorated with a frieze of foliate grotesques, sage leaves, and poppy flowers surrounding a central oval medallion depicting the Virgin and Child. With the date “1672” in relief. The handle formed as a dolphin. The base rounded due to usage. H 17.9, D 16.2 cm. Weight c. 4.4 kg.
