A large and magnificent Grassmayr mortar dated 1681

Golden brown cast bronze with polished natural patina. The centre of the display side decorated with sage leaves, vases of flowers and angels surrounding a depiction of the crucifixion above a winged putto head and the date “1681”. Inscribed above in capital letters: “F C V S M H V S C C V H P". The base slightly rounded due to usage. H 20.5, D 20 cm. Weight c. 7.2 kg. Includes a corresponding pestle.
