Two Kashmiri lacquered papier maché boxes. India, Jammu-Kashmir. 19th/early 20th century

Both with a domed lid, a) of octagonal shape, decorated in polychrome and gilt with figures and wild animals on a ground of dense flowers and scrolls, and b) of slightly lobed shape with eight panels filled with various flowers on a black, brown or green ground. The inside of both boxes yellow with tiny stylised black flowers. (2)
