A Victorian featherwork barette

Glazed 14k gold oval capsule containing a fine coloured bird feather miniature on mother-of-pearl ground, given as a love token. Depicting a peacock on its nest, songbirds and a horned violet inscribed "Uriel". With two crossed loop bails on the reverse to string the piece on a ribbon. In the original velvet case marked "Munsey & Co. Ltd. Cambridge". Minor damage to the featherwork. Minor soldered repairs around the bases of the bails. 6.3 x 4.7 cm. Weight 31.19 g.
