An important Bohemian glass beaker with the Electoral Palatinate coat of arms

Slightly tapering beaker with thick base. A communion chalice motif cut into the pontil mark. The coat of arms within a round cartouche with gravestone and cross motifs crowned by a winged angel's head and flanked by the electoral crown and a mitre. H 13.5, D 11 cm.
Early 18th C.

This beaker may be linked to the death of Johann Wilhelm of Palatinate, called Jan Wellem (1658 - 1716), Duke of Jülich and Berg, arch treasurer of the Holy Roman Empire, Count Palatinate, Elector of the Palatinate and Count Palatinate Duke of Palatinate-Neuburg.
