A Louis XV style console table

Richly carved gilt hardwood table with rocaille and garland decor and a grey marble top. Stamped on the stretcher underneath the top "Quignon MEUBLES D´ART". Restored, the gilding retouched and lacquered. H 88, W 118, D 56 cm.

Napoléon Quignon was born on 25th March in the Département Aisne. He is first documented in Paris in 1849 as Menuisier, maker of seating furniture and chairs in the style of Louis XV. Frames and console tables also belonged to his repertoire. He produced seating furniture for Fontainebleau palace in around 1860 and a set of chairs in Tuilerie palace in 1861.
