A mother-of-pearl-inlaid black lacquer box. 17th century

Of rectangular shape on four very low, integral and lobed feet, displaying a pair of peacocks amidst peonies and rock in a lobed reserve on the top of the lid and flower sprays and smaller bird to the sides, all in mother-of-pearl inlay on a black ground. Red lacquer to the inside. Small losses, crackle to the lacquer and a few cracks due to age.
