A lacquered wood horseshoe armchair. 18th/19th century

On four round legs joined by stepped stretchers, the curved rest supported by a back splat and curved side posts, the rails ending in curled pads. The back splat and seat painted in red, green, gold and a little white with a dragon and a phoenix amidst peonies and rocks respectively on a ground of stylised flowers, the rest, arms and legs painted with blossoms and leafy scrolls. Overpainting at the legs.
