A fine wood sculpture of Jikokuten. Edo-period, 18th century

Standing on a demon and pressing down its head with his foot, above a rocky platform, the "Guardian of the Nation" identifiable by his raised sword and left hand resting on his hip. At the non-exposed areas remains of painting, the rest of the figure lacquered black, the eyes of glass, the crown and the sword (replacement) of metal. Small part of the shawl missing.
