An oblong lacquer box by Hayashi Hiroshi. Late 20th century

With three trays (sandan jubako) and a lid. The box is decorated at the outside with heavy gold, a “prehistoric wall painting” in red through which the fabric ground is visible and below a frieze with some “Egyptian hieroglyphs”. The box gives the impression to be made from weathered wood. The trays fitted with brokade. The lid with a crack. Tomobako, the inscription on the lid reading ... hoseki tansu and signed Hiroshi saku. With yellow cloth (ukon nuno).
