Three Meissen porcelain dessert plates from the service with red mosaic pattern borders

Large plate with pierced rim. Decorated with “indianische blumen“ in iron red in the centre, the border with flowers alternating with shell motifs in reserves. With a restored rim chip. D c. 25.5 cm.
1763.

Production of dessert plates for the royal dinner service began in 1763. The plates should be decorated, “in the manner of the pierced confect dishes which his majesty designed himself“.
