A Berlin KPM porcelain plate with a view of Baroque city palace

Model no. 1054. Decorated with a depiction of an imposing Baroque building with a tiled roof in an etched gold surround. Gilding retouched. D 24.3 cm.
1823 -1832.

The view almost certainly shows the former two-storey building Unter den Linden 4, a 16-axis palace built before 1820. Until 1849 it housed the Ministry of the King of Hanover, but it was subsequently taken over by the Prussian state. From 1879 - 83, the German Reich erected a three-storey building for the Ministry of Culture on the site.

Provenance
