A Berlin KPM porcelain dinner plate from the service for General Kleist von Nollendorf

Model no. 1113. The well decorated with the Iron Cross, the border with a laurel wreath entwined by black and pale red ribbons and the comital coat of arms in an oval reserve. Blue sceptre mark, impressed mark L and two dots. D 23.5 cm.
C. 1817.

In honour of his services in the battle of Kulm and Nollendorf, King Friedrich Wilhelm III raised Friedrich von Kleist (1762-1823) to the rank of hereditary count under the name “von Nollendorf” on 3rd June 1814. He sent the design for his coat of arms to KPM manufactory director Rosenstiel in January 1816 so that production of his service could begin immediately after. Rosenstiel was already able to report its upcoming completion and shipping to the ministry in October 1817.
