A French ribbed mortar

Cast bronze with blackish brown patina. With seven rounded ribs alternating with round relief medallions, the upper two with the Virgin and child, five with St. John (?), floral motifs in the lower section. Minor traces of corrosion. H 10.8, D 15.8 cm, weight c. 2.5 kg.
Late 16th / 17th C.
