A French ribbed mortar

Cast bronze with golden brown patina to the outer surface, the inner surface with black patina and calcific deposits. Seven rounded ribs alternating with crucifix reliefs, two raised plaques with the Virgin and child, three female heads and foliate ornament. The upper rim with a band of slanted fleur de lys. Cracks to the base. H 11.8, D 18.5 cm, weight c. 4.6 kg.
