A Gothic single-handled mortar with bracket feet

Reddish brown cast bronze with chocolate brown patina. Of tapering form resting on five rounded bracket feet from which issue one shorter and four longer vertical ribs. With flaring, moulded rim and an angular, faceted handle. Minor dents and scratches around the outer surface, the base slightly rounded due to use. H 15.6, D 14.7 cm, weight c. 3.8 kg. Includes a later bronze pestle with a node and engraved ring lines. L 25 cm.
