A Gothic single-handled mortar

Golden brown cast bronze with brown patina. Of tapering form resting on four paw feet from which issue one shorter and three longer angular ribs. With flaring moulded rim and angular, octagonally faceted handle. Several casting faults around the rim, the upper section of the exterior and the underside. The base slightly rounded due to use. H 17.2, D 15.6 cm, weight c. 3.3 kg.
