A terracotta model of a recumbent lion

Modelled from one piece in the round, the underside hollowed out. H 26, L 68, W 23.5 cm.
Attributed to England, late 19th C.

Similar large-scale ceramic models were presented at many industrial exhibitions and world fairs in the late 19th century as decorative items or garden sculptures.
