A small pewter-mounted stoneware tankard with Bathsheba

Of tapering form with a hinged tin lid. Decorated with a depiction of numerous figures surrounding a Renaissance fountain beside a palace. The figure of King David can be seen in the upper right window, inscribed “ETE” lower right, lower left Bathsheba with her maid. The pewter lid marked. H 15.7 cm.
Siegburg, late 16th C., after a French design, the pewter mountings Nuremberg, Conrad Höss jun., master in 1705.
