A Parisian ormolu mantle clock depicting Torquato Tasso

Ormolu and burnished bronze clock with blued steel hands. 14-day running movement with thread suspension of the pendulum and half-hourly striking. Depicting the poet in historical costume leaning against a column with the manuscript of “Jérusalem delivrée”, a lyre and an inkwell. The base decorated with Gothic tracery. H 53.5, W 35.3, D 15.2 cm.
