A 16th century Tuscan terracotta figure of the Virgin enthroned

Worked in the round, the reverse smoothed down and deeply hollowed out, stained and with remnants of polychromy. A depiction of the Virgin enthroned with the Christ Child in Her lap designed for a frontal and slightly lowered viewpoint. Although the proportions are slightly unbalanced, the attention to detail in this lively piece nevertheless lends it a certain rustic charm.
Minimal wear. Height 41 cm.
