A late 15th century carved wood relief of an angel with a flute, presumably Lower Rhine Region

Probably oak, partially pierced. With very minimal remains of former polychromy. This pierced relief depicts a half-length figure of an angel surrounded by clouds, turned to one side and playing a flute. The fine and detailed rendering of the high relief creates a lively and expressive impression.
Some vertical hairline cracks, minor losses and small drilled holes, in good overall condition. 23 x 24 x 7 cm.
