A large Canton famille rose vase. 19th century

Of slender baluster-shape with a trumpet neck and foliate rim and applied with four writhing gilt chilongs to the shoulder and two handles in the form of Buddhist lions and their cubs to the neck. Decorated with rectangular panels depicting scenes from the Shuihuzhuan with officials and warriors on terraces and in battle, surrounded by dense scrolling flowers and foliage, birds and fruits and with a lappet band of stylized lotus leaves around the foot.
