A wood and ivory okimono of a wood cutter. Around 1900

Waking carefully on a tree trunk, shouldering an axe and carrying on his back a bundle of branches wrapped in a straw mat. Head and hands of ivory. The trousers and tabi stained black. A few chips and a larger crack.
