An iron tsuba. Edo period, dated 1864

Of near mokkô shape, with slightly raised irregular rim, carved with ominaeshi, kikyô, hagi and susuki on one side and mitsuba akebi on the other side with details in gold and silver, signed jinen nanajûyon (74-year-old) Hakuô with kaô.
Wooden box.
Height 8.5 cm

Hakuô is the gô of Gotô Ichijô (Kyoto 1791-1876), 6th Hachirôbei master. He used this and other gô on iron tsuba.
