A Rhenish earthenware pietà sculpture

Pietà group worked in the round after a 17th century model. One of the Virgin's feet, both of Christ's feet and the tips of the chair backrests lost. The Virgin's right arm cracked. H 29 cm.
Rhineland / Lower Rhine Region, late 17th / early 18th C.

Provenance

Property of a Rhenish aristocrat, auctioned by Lempertz Cologne in auction 1028 on 15th / 16th May 2014, lot 596.
