Out of the Série mollusques. Signed in pencil: Paul Jacoulet. Mandarin duck seal. Block carver: Yamagishi Kazuo. Edn. 39/150. July 5, 1935. In addition: A publication by Florence Wells on Paul Jacoulet and two further woodcut print books. Very good impression, mica, yellowed, some creases mostly in the margins.
39.3 cm x 29.9 cm

This print was made early on. Jacoulet’s earliest prints stem from 1934. This print is from the first edition of 150 intended copies. In the end, less than 100 were printed. The second edition was to include 350 images, of which fewer than 190 were printed. There is no imprinted title, but a paper label with the series and the title was pasted below the image, to the right. The later edition was titled “Femme Tatouée de Falalap. Ouest Carolines.” This design was Jacoulet’s personal favourite.
