A very large Ayutthaya bronze head of a Buddha. Ca. 17th century

With eyes lowered in meditation and a serene expression, the diadem and covering of the back of the head richly ornamented, the ushnisha now lost. The face lacquered over, and remnants of original gilding in a few areas. Set into a wooden base.
Height ca. 36 cm
