A boxwood shishimai dancer. Mid-19th century

The boy sits with a large shishi mask over his head and the mask cloth covering his whole body. He pulls down the lower jaw of the mask revealing his face inside. The cord holes line with ivory, one stained green. The front part of the mask cloth a little worked over.
