An ivory netsuke of a tanuki and a sedge hat. Second half 19th century

The tanuki,wearing a kimono crouches over a a large travelling hat and looks back with an opend mouth and an agressive expression heightend by the mother-of-pearl-inlaid eyes. His bushy tail and huge scrotum look out from underneath the robe. Reworked chip.
