A Meissen porcelain cup and saucer with Greek and Roman ruins

Painted with labelled depictions of "Le Temple de Minerve Poliade à Athènes." on the cup and "Chemin, parlequel on a conduit l´eau de Claude." on the saucer. Blue crossed swords mark with star, purple 16., gold S., black 15 (cup) and 38 (saucer). H of cup 6.4, D of saucer 13.4 cm.

The image on the cup shows a detail from the copperplate print by Jacques Philippe Lebas for "Les Ruines des plus beaux Monuments de la Grêce" by Julien David Le Roy, published in Paris in 1758.
