A Meissen porcelain cup and saucer with Lotte and Werther

With original lid and saucer. Depicting the figures Lotte and Werther from Goethe's classic story. The borders with blue and white chequerboard pattern and gilt edging. Blue crossed swords mark with star, the cup with "." in underglaze blue, dreher's number 1 (saucer). Minor wear to the gilt edging.
Around 1790.

The figures are presumably based on works by Johann David Schubert, as suggested in Angelika Müller-Scherf's publication on "Werther porcelain". Comparable works can be found in the historic collection of the State Porcelain Manufactory in Meissen (e.g. inv. no. VA 11).
