A large Gothic iron mortar on a wooden plinth

Cast iron with traces of rust. The wooden base with remnants of polychromy. Thickly cast tapering mortar with a protruding rim. Decorated with horizontal bands of moulding and ten ribs with mascaron terminals. The handles formed as cherub's heads. H c. 28.5, D 35.7 cm, weight c. 59.4 kg.
Italy, presumably 15th C.
