The best-known enamel frame of this type is in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and houses a painted porcelain plaque from Sèvres depicting the French ceramic artist Bernard Palissy at work (acc. no. 2007.221). This frame also aims to give the illusion of more precious material, in this case gold set with gemstones. The frame in the Metropolitan museum is by Armand Feuchère and the example presented here can also be attributed to a French workshop.
