Portrait of a bearded Man in a red Cloak

Oil on panel. 41.5 x 31.5 cm.

An attribution to Frans I Francken (1542-1612) has been suggested. An x-ray examination has shown that the head was initially rendered without the cap and that the hair was painted over.

Provenance

Wallraf-Richartz-Museum, Cologne (according to a label on the reverse: "Gemälde Inventar 1925, Inv. Nr. 1843").
