A lacquered pine wood clothing chest (bandaiji). Present-day North Korea, Pakchon area. Mid-19th century

The front door opens downward. The front with large punched and engraved irion fittings, some of them with the character jangsu (Long Life) and with the yin-yang symbol, the lock plates elaborately shaped. Three moveable handles to the front and two to the sides. Feet and key replaced.
Height 74.5 cm; width 86.5 cm; depth 39 cm

Chests with this type of lace-like iron fittings were made in the Pakchon area in present-day North Korea.
