A large kraak dish. Wanli period (1572–1620)

With foliated rim, decorated in underglaze-blue to the centre with a screen with a phoenix, peonies and ornamental rockwork in front of a flower basket behind a fence in the background enclosed by a star-shaped cartouche, the cavetto is further decorated with eight petal-shaped panels alternating with fruiting branches and precious objects separated by diaper and pearl strings, to the exterior with panels of lingzhi and peach. Rim frits. Metal brackets.
